报告题目: Advances in Reality Modelling and Computing

摘      要: Reality modeling and computing aims to bridge the physical and digital worlds, yet this goal is challenged by the sheer complexity of real-world data and the demand for efficient, interpretable systems. Recent advances in computer graphics, vision, and artificial intelligence have opened new opportunities to address these challenges. In this talk, I will present an overview of the field, illustrated with examples including our research efforts towards high-level shape representation, and efficient 3D shape construction/parsing that help understanding of real-world objects, support product re-creation, and facilitate practical applications. I will also discuss the role of advanced AI and machine learning in this domain, sharing our experience in understanding, reconstructing, and repurposing 3D shapes from diverse data sources. 

报告人简介:Dr Jianmin Zheng is a full professor in the College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a graduate of Zhejiang University (BS and PhD) and is internationally recognized for his contributions to 3D modeling and computer graphics, including T-spline technology, non-uniform subdivision surfaces, CAD, and AI-enabled design. His research spans computer graphics, geometric modeling, vision, AR/VR, visualization, AI for design, and 3D printing, with inventions adopted by industry leaders such as Autodesk Inc. and HP Inc. His work has appeared in leading venues such as SIGGRAPH and CVPR, and he has delivered keynote talks at international conferences. Dr Zheng has served as Conference/Technical Program Co-Chair for several conferences such as GMP 2014, SPM 2022 and 2023, and IEEE ISMAR 2022, and will serve as the Course Chair of SIGGRAPH Asia 2026. He also contributes to the scholarly community through editorial roles for six academic journals and has been honored as an elected Fellow of the Solid Modeling Association.
